Live Your Dreams!

Priscilla Gardunio Wolf, Storyteller and Dreamer – I am from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. My dream in life was to become an artist in school. But I was told by my teacher I would never succeed because I was Spanish and Apache.

That teacher did not know who I was inside, for even at that young age, I was a believer-in-Dreams and I would never give up! I became an artist, president and vice president of two different art groups. As a storyteller, I was part of the Native Women of the West History Trail, I was able to share my legend Native stories through writing and I had them published. I went on to write books so I could share my life story and the stories of my people.

My Apache grandmother gave me my first journal when I was 11-years-old. She told me her story about being an orphaned Apache child. I promised her I would tell her story to the world so they would know about her life. I did publish her book on Amazon, Apache Orphan Child. I still have a dream to produce her story into a powerful film to help others. There are so many orphaned children who don’t have a voice, and they cannot be heard.

There were times in my life that got very hard over the years. Surviving a bad marriage and having to support children, wasn’t an easy job. I did the very best I could. I was always looking for ways to use my creativity and love for storytelling, so I became a background actress. I have been filmed in documentaries, performed private Medicine Wheel ceremonies and learned the ways of my grandparents, who were healers and used herbals. I applied their teachings to my life, no matter what came my way, to live in balance with the good and the bad. I learned survival.

I am so grateful for my life. It has been very interesting. I’ve met many wonderful people who are truly my inspiration… I say to those who struggle, “Never allow anyone, or being poor, to set you back. Live your dreams.”

Everyone has a voice, a story to tell and a song to sing. Everyone faces problems. My advice is to take those problems and make a story to help you succeed. At the same time, it will help others to know they are not alone.

Most people have one role in life. But, my path has taken me through many doors – I am a storyteller, an artist, an author, an actress, a Shaman, a grandmother and a mother of two grown children. I am a widow.

What made me strong in my life? I think of the example set by my grandmother and how she became a wonderful mother, grandmother, storyteller, healer and artist. She had no educational background, but she used her God-given gifts to become “more.” So have I.

I always say, God didn’t create junk, he created me.

REMEMBERING DAKOTA – Our dear sister, Dakota Priscilla Gardunio Wolf, passed on November 26th, 2019, in the early morning hours. She was a beautiful person who had so very much to share, and she did share through her books and natural creativity. Dakota was a #warriorwomanspirit and she is forever a bright light!
